Inspired by the solar eclipse and the Lionsgate occurring on 8 August 2026 the numerology of this piece is the number 8. The torus pattern consists of 64 rounds (8 × 8 = 64). The centre has four moons, the top for the eclipse, the bottom contains the astrological glyph for Leo. Surrounding these are 4 smaller moons marked with the symbols of the four elements (fire, earth, water and air). Everything is contained within an 8 pointed star. The central image of the sun is gilded with 24 carat gold leaf as is the inner pattern at the circumference of the torus.
This piece is painted in water colour, with a background wash of Verdigris Ink from London Pigment, on handmade paper from Two Rivers in Somerset and measures 50 × 50cm complete with a deckled edge.
